What is the Rust Belt Repp Tie?
The Rust Belt Repp Tie is the pre-cursor and future compliment to the store that Harrison Fisher is working toward opening in downtown Steubenville. Here you will find updates on store progress, sophistry masquerading as sound philosophy, and the occasional menswear discourse.
Who is Harrison Fisher and Why Would He Do This?
Harrison Fisher, founder of The Rust Belt Repp Tie, is among other things a Steubenville dweller, a lover of classic menswear, and a second-rate writer.
Harrison expressed interest in the arts and design from a young age, exploring literature, poetry, music, and architecture during his free time as a child and teenager. As a youngster (~3-8 years old), he was fond of getting dressed up for church and family parties. While he has no recollection of this, photos from his early days indicate he was drawn to polos, madras shorts, and tennis sweaters. While his pre-teen and teenage years were a markedly uninteresting period for his wardrobe, his love for classic clothing rekindled towards the end of high school.
Over the course of the last five years, Harrison has absorbed unhealthy quanities of menswear information, and has accumulated a wardrobe he is unhealthily proud of. Most of his knowledge, like his wardrobe, was procured second-hand, through mensware literature, photographs, and YouTube content. However, Harrison equally values his first-hand conversations with knowledgeable tailors, suit-makers, and clothing experts, who patiently allowed him to inquire about, inspect, and try on well-made garments they knew he could not afford.
Harrison couldn’t help but notice the parallels between the revitaliztion efforts of his beloved, adopted hometown and the global resurgence of tradtionally crafted and designed menswear. He also couldn’t help but think he should be the one to bring the two together. The Rust Belt Repp Tie was born of this arrogant attitude.
With the Rust Belt Repp Tie, and soon, the H. Fisher store, it is his goal to bring to Steubenville a place for people to appreciate the craftsmanship of a well tailored suit and the beauty of a well-worn tweed coat. At the same time he, hopes that the establishment of a proper menswear store in this town will entice clothing enthusiasts from elsewhere, who otherwise might never have heard of Steubenville, to experience all of the beauty we have to offer here.
